Guy Gardner headlines new DC Comics Green Lantern special from Deadpool creative team

Deadpool duo Gerry Duggan and Matteo Lolli join forces for May's Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1

The Popverse coverage of the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting 2026 is brought to you by Lunar Distribution. Commited to Retailers. Focused on the Future of Comics.

If there is one thing that Guy Gardner is always doing, it is running his mouth. No one knows why he does it, and I'm sure his former girlfriends like Ice have wondered that plenty of times. I would say it's like gravity, but that would be leaving out the fact that Guy travels through space as a Green Lantern all the time.

Anyways, it would make sense, then, that a stellar creative team behind another comic book motormouth (Deadpool) would take on Guy Gardner in the upcoming Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1. Written by Gerry Duggan with art by Matteo Lolli, the story will feature a smackdown of galactic proportions. The official solicit for the issue states, "In this corner, we have intergalactic heavyweight Guy Gardner fighting in the @%$&# division, and his challengers are...Manhunter androids, space apes, the Guardians, and fellow Lantern John Stewart?! The Deadpool team of Matteo Lolli and Gerry Duggan presents 'Light Club': a tale of the best and worst Lantern in the corps."

Guy, I know you won't ever listen to a word of advice from me, or anyone, ever, but please, don't underestimate John Stewart in a fight. The dude is a Marine. My grandfather was one, and I think that that man could still one-punch me from the afterlife, much like Batman once did to Guy.

The cover of the Guy Gardner special is drawn by Edwin Galmon, and the variants will be drawn by David Aja, Ariel Olivetti, and Ethan Young. The special will be 48 pages and priced at $5.99, with the cardstock variants at $6.99.

Tales of the Green Lantern Corps: Guy Gardner #1 will be on sale wherever comics are sold on May 6, 2026.
