DC’s Vertigo returns strong as Bleeding Hearts #1 sells out on day of release, rushed to second printing
Deniz Camp and Stipan Morian's Bleeding Hearts #1 has been a bloody good hit for Vertigo Comics

Popverse's top stories
- Who shot first, Han or Greedo? Harrison Ford finally answers the longtime Star Wars debate (and it’s pretty much what you expect)
- Yellowstone inspired a cinematic universe, but Taylor Sheridan can't stand Marvel Studios' storytelling: "You know nothing."
- When Kentarou Miura began Berserk, he did so with one fear. That fear took six years to get over
DC Comics fans are showing up to support the return of the publisher's DC Vertigo imprint, with Deniz Camp and Stipan Morian's new series, Bleeding Hearts, being rushed back for a second printing after issue #1 on the same day that it hit shelves, according to a press release from the company.
Announced as part of the first wave of new Vertigo titles, Bleeding Hearts is an "intimate, character-driven horror" story about a zombie called Mouse-Pokes-Golf-Ball-Through-Hole-In-Head who makes the startling discovery that his undead heart is beating again. The story takes place ten years after the zombie apocalypse, and makes a "slow-burn descent where love, obsession, and monstrosity blur together." Take a gander at the second printing cover by series artist Stipan Morian below.

In addition to the re-colored logo main second printing cover by Morian, DC Vertigo is also printing an inks-only variant cover by Nick Dragotta, which is below, further cementing the link between the Absolute and Vertigo imprints at DC. Absolute Batman fans, rejoice!

Bleeding Hearts #1's second printing will hit comic shops on March 18, 2026, a week after Bleeding Hearts #2 releases. So if you've got FOMO, here's your chance to jump onto the bandwagon before the train leaves the station. (Yeah, I'm mixing my transportation metaphors here, I love public transportation!)
