Upstart comics publisher Ignition Press announces standalone 'Ignition Press Room' location for San Diego Comic-Con 2025

Want to be part of SDCC 2025 but don't have a pass? Ignition Press has you covered

Don’t look now, but we’re almost a month out from San Diego Comic-Con 2025, and publishers, studios, and other pop culture companies are already starting to announce plans for the annual entertainment saturnalia by the sea. One of the first announcements to arrive — and one of the most interesting ones, to boot — comes from an upstart comic book publisher that we’ve had our eyes on for awhile.

Ignition Press was founded in summer 2024 by writer/artist Jeremy Haun, former Boom! Studios president of publishing Filip Sablik, former IDW editor-in-chief Jamie S. Rich, and film and TV producer Eric Gitter; they’ve already announced their first project, Murder Podcast — and when it comes to their first SDCC, they’re doing things a little differently, with the Ignition Press Room… a pop-up location outside the traditional San Diego Convention Center hub for the weekend.

The Press Room is described by the company as “a standalone, boutique pop-up experience designed to introduce visiting press, fans, and convention goers to Ignition Press through interactive photo opportunities, a retail experience, programming for fans and industry members, exclusive afterhours events, along with meet-and-greets and signings with Ignition Press creators.” What that means in practice is that creators including (but not limited to) Haun, Cullen Bunn, Leah Williams, Inaki Miranda, and David Baldeón will be making appearances throughout the Thursday through Sunday run of the convention, while exclusive merch and comic books will be available for purchase. (Announcements of what those will be should be expected in the weeks leading up to the show, per Ignition.)

“When we began building Ignition Press nearly one year ago, we knew we wanted to do comics differently,” Ignition Press publisher Filip Sablik said in a statement accompanying news of the Press Room. “The Ignition Press Room is the first manifestation of the type of community we are building around our amazing creators and a celebration of everything we love about this amazing medium!”

For those in San Diego during the July 24-27 event, you can find the Ignition Press Room in the Gaslamp District of the city, at 643 G Street. It'll be free to the public during the entire event, not just those with passes to the show itself.

Expect much, much more about San Diego Comic-Con 2025 in the next few weeks leading up to the late July event.
