Real release schedule (Updated August 2026): When new chapters of Takehiko Inoue's other basketball manga come out
The Slam Dunk creator turned his eye for action and drama to the harsh realities of wheelchair basketball.

The Real release schedule largely depends on where you live. Fans in Japan can get new chapters from the iconic creator of Slam Dunk, Takehiko Inoue, irregularly and after frequent hiatuses. Elsewhere in the world, you probably have to wait even longer. Our Real release schedule will help you find the latest Real manga release dates and know exactly where to read this remarkable sports manga for yourself.
How often do new Real manga chapters come out?
There is no set schedule for the Real manga. It comes out when Takehiko Inoue has a chance to finish new chapters. Sometimes this takes weeks or months. Occasionally, it takes years for new chapters to be released. It is rare enough that most fans have to wait for news updates to find out that new Real chapters are being released.
When is the next Real manga chapter coming out?
The next Real manga chapter will be chapter 106, but there is no release date for it yet. Real 105 came out in July 2026, but no release date for the next chapters was announced at the time.
The upcoming Real release schedule is:
- Real chapter 106 release date: To be announced
- Real chapter 107 release date: To be announced
- Real chapter 108 release date: To be announced
Where can I read Real manga?

Unfortunately, it is not as easy to read Real as it is to read other Weekly Young Jump manga like One Piece. The manga has not been published online in English, so you’ll need to wait for the next physical volume to be released. The most recent volume was Real Volume 16, which was released in October 2025 in English. Another volume has been released in Japan, but no Real Volume 17 English release date has been announced.
Is Real manga still going?
Real is an ongoing manga that began being published in 1999. So far, over 100 chapters have been published in over 20 years, which means that there have been frequent, often lengthy breaks between chapters.
Is Real manga about wheelchair basketball?
Yes, Real is a manga about wheelchair basketball written and drawn by Takehiko Inoue. It follows three teenagers who bond over the freedom they find in the sport and how they manage to push their own physical and psychological barriers. Like Inoue’s previous work, Slam Dunk, Real delivers high-stakes drama in addition to all the action on the basketball court.
Is Real still on hiatus?
Real doesn’t have a set release schedule, so it is difficult to say if it is on hiatus or not. Takehiko Inoue releases new chapters when they are finished; there isn’t a monthly or weekly rhythm to them. As such, we don’t know if he is still working on the manga or if a new Real chapter is coming out soon.
