If A24 ever got the rights to do a Fantastic Four movie for Marvel, it'd look kinda like Midnight Fantastic Four says writer Ben Percy
Midnight Fantastic Four writer Benjamin Percy says Marvel's new line is closer to modern boutique horror than classic monster comics

Marvel Comics has a history with horror comics nearly as deep as its legacy of superheroes, but its new Marvel Midnight line is taking a different approach from the classic Marvel monsters, a concept that Midnight Fantastic Four writer Benjamin Percy likens to today's cutting-edge horror over classic, more straightforward scary movies.
"This is an elevated horror space we're working in. This isn't business as usual. We're not writing, you know, Werewolf by Night or Man-Thing here. It's more of an A24 joint," Percy states in an interview with The Beat at Comic-Con International: San Diego.
"You know, they're really letting us off leash, and they're letting us be patient. We have years of stories ahead of us already mapped out. In my case with the Fantastic Four, I'm taking a Lovecraftian approach and so it's cosmic horror and eldritch horror, and I have presently about 24 issues all outlined. So yeah, we can't wait to make your eyes bleed."
The Marvel Midnight line launches with three titles. Percy and artist Kev Walker's Midnight Fantastic Four is joined by writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist ScieTronc on Midnight Spider-Man, and Jonathan Hickman and artist Matteo Della Fonte on Midnight X-Men.
The Fantastic Four lend themselves to a cosmic horror theme, considering their origins as space travelers caught in a storm of cosmic energy. However, Midnight Fantastic Four involves Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben being forever changed after venturing through a portal to another dimension fraught with horrors.
It's unclear how many titles will eventually be added to Marvel Midnight, but all three launch titles, Midnight Fantastic Four, Midnight Spider-Man, and Midnight X-Men will launch at once on October 7.
