Kevin Smith has his next Jay & Silent Bob project… and it's in the Marvel Universe

After Riverdale, there was only one destination for Jay and Silent Bob: the Marvel Universe - and it's happening this June

The Popverse coverage of the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting 2026 is brought to you by Lunar Distribution. Commited to Retailers. Focused on the Future of Comics.

Snoogans, Marvelites. It’s an unlikely event decades in the making, but this summer, worlds collide as Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob — stars of everything from 1994’s Clerks through 2019’s Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and beyond — invade the Marvel Universe in a one-off comic book special written by Smith himself.

Smith will be joined by artist Giuseppe Camuncoli for Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past, a story that Marvel teases will see the two characters team up with some classic Marvel heroes to take on none other than Doctor Doom — because, sure, why not…? And if you thought the title was a reference to a particularly beloved X-Men comic book, wait until you see the cover, from artist Marco Checchetto:

In a statement about the project, Smith said, “From the moment in Mallrats when they made the very first reference to Wolverine in cinema history, I’ve always wanted Jay and Silent Bob to meet their Marvel heroes in a comic book crossover — so much so that I pitched it to Stan the Man himself the day he shot his cameo in the movie way back in 1995. Thirty years later, Jays of Future Past, represents both a love letter to the magic and mayhem of Marvel as well as giggle-inducing proof that our childhood dreams can still come true, even at age 55.”

This is far from the duo’s comic book debut; in addition to headlining their own Oni Press comic book series back in 1998, Jay and Silent Bob have appeared in everything from Image Comics’ Chew to DC Comics’ Green Arrow — and even teamed up with the Riverdale gang in an Archie Comics special in 2025.

Marvel’s official description of the issue is, “THEY’RE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE IN THIS UNIVERSE! Capped, tan American Jay and friendly neighborhood wider-man Silent Bob make a quick stop in the Marvel Universe! But when Doctor Doom decrees these Jersey guys must die, the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the X-Men and a whole hoary host of heroes must team up on a joint mission to save the dimwitted duo from a lethal case of super hero overload!”

Jay & Silent Bob: Jays of Future Past will be released June 10.

About ComicsPRO Industry Conference

Every year, the giants of the North American comic industry congregate behind closed doors for a closed-door conference to talk about the changing landscape of comics, what they've learned, and what they are all planning to do in the future. It's not a comic convention for fans, though - it's in a B2B event called the ComicsPRO Annual Meeting, and this year Popverse is going there to bring it all to you. At the 2026 Comics PRO Annual Meeting, Popverse will be covering the announcements, the conversations, and the insight from the likes of Marvel Comics, DC Comics, VIZ Media, Yen Press, Image Comics, Skybound Entertainment, and more.
