Marvel has plans for more Mayday Parker Spider-Girl (including a story from her co-creator Tom DeFalco)

C.B. Cebulski says Marvel isn’t done with Mayday Parker, and she’ll be suiting up as Spider-Girl again

Before Spider-Gwen, and before Miles Morales, there was Mayday Parker, the spectacular Spider-Girl. Mayday was originally a one-off character introduced in What If #105 (1998), which explored the idea of Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s teenage daughter continuing her father’s legacy. Enthusiastic reader response led to Spider-Girl getting her own ongoing, which was saved from cancellation numerous times by grassroot fan campaigns.

Today Mayday doesn’t have much of a presence in the Marvel Universe. Her last regular series ended in 2010, and since then the character has starred in a few digital comics and shown up for various Spider-Verse related events. The character rechristened herself Spider-Woman, but the name hasn’t stuck, with readers and characters still referring to her as Spider-Girl. A baby version of Mayday was seen in the 2023 film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. As of 2026 a character named Maka Akana is serving as Spider-Girl, but there’s a big Spider-Verse out there, so there’s still room for Mayday.

During December 2025’s Singapore’s Marvel Makan Masterworks event a Spider-Girl cosplayer asked Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski if Marvel had forgotten about Mayday. “There’ll be more Spider-Girl. Mayday is near and dear to our hearts. We’ve got more with Tom DeFalco and the Spider-Verse coming your way,” C.B. Cebulski answered.

It should be noted that Tom DeFalco, who once served as Marvel’s editor-in-chief, wrote almost every issue of Spider-Girl’s original 1998-2006 series, and nearly every solo adventure the heroine has had since.

As of this writing, Marvel hasn’t solicited any Spider-Girl projects. It’s possible DeFalco’s Spider-Girl story is being held for a future anthology, or it will be released closer to Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Either way, more Spider-Girl is always great news, especially when she’s written by Tom DeFalco.

Marvel's most reliable superhero has proven he can do a whole lot more than just 'whatever a spider can.' Swing into Spidey's history with Popverse's...

Just watch out for that radioactive blood.
