He's the best there is at what he does, but what he does best isn't very nice.
The X-Men's Wolverine has been around the world and back, thanks to the fact that the dude is old. As in, he's older than the dishwasher, color photography, Morse code, safety pins, and baseball. And when you're dealing with a character who was born in 1832, you've got quite a lot of historical real estate to play around in.
This is something that comic book writer Benjamin Percy enjoys about the character. Speaking with our video producer, Ashley Victoria Robinson, as part of our members-only video interview series Popversations, Percy detailed what makes Logan such a dynamic character to work with. “Being able to travel to different time periods has been a lot of fun as well. Like in X Lives of Wolverine/X Deaths of Wolverine, in Predator vs. Wolverine, right? One of the most interesting things about Wolverine is how he’s reinvented himself with these different eras and geographies. I haven't just put a dent in Wolverine now, I've been able to put these little pings and dings in him throughout history," said Percy.
Percy wrote Wolverine's solo series during the X-Men's Krakoan era, as well as X-Force, the team book that Logan was on at the time. Currently, Percy is writing Hellverine for Marvel Comics, which isn't about Logan, but rather his son, Akihiro, who not only has Wolverine claws of his own, but is also possessed by a demon (which is a whole vibe, if you ask me).
