Those of us in the know have been aware that Storm is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Universe. Now she has a new ongoing series coming in 2026 that will put her in the role of Earth’s protector from a war that rages far above us all. Who could stand against Storm’s might? None other than Mistress Death herself.

During the Marvel Comics: X-Men panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel announced a new ongoing series starring Storm. Titled Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant, the first issue goes on sale in February 2026. Written by Murewa Avodele (I am Iron Man, Storm, Rogue Storm) with art by Federica Mancin (Exceptional X-Men, Miles Morales: Spiderman) with cover art by R.S. Silva, Storm: Earth’s Mightest Mutant sets her up for a globetrotting adventure that ends in a heartbreaking funeral.
With The War Above All looming over the Earth, Storm has found herself as Earth’s protector once more. The story starts with a Japanese tea ceremony with an old enemy, followed by a visit to France for a masquerade with monsters. However, Ororo is pursued by Mistress Death herself. Marvel promises that the comic will feature “bloodshed, brutality, barbarism, and bold emotions in the brand new Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant.”
The new ongoing series will launch in February 2026 with Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant #1. Even if you know Storm’s future, it doesn’t sound like we can hope to know her future – or the future of Earth, for that matter.
