Nas and Mass Appeal bring hip-hop legends to NYCC 2025 with Whatnot

This article is brought to you by Whatnot - the live shopping marketplace. Whether you're here at New York Comic Con or anywhere in the world, you don't have to miss out on some of the big exclusives happening this weekend.

One of the most enjoyable things about New York Comic Con — any con, really, but especially one on the scale of NYCC — is seeing surprising parts of pop culture bump up against each other and find common ground. Whether it’s fans who are cosplaying as a mash-up between two different things, creators of one favorite property talking on panels about their love for something entirely separate that they love, or crossovers between characters and series, we’re here for collisions of things we love at shows.

Unsurprisingly, then, we’re very excited about what’s going down on Saturday afternoon at NYCC 2025’s Whatnot House, when Nas, Mass Appeal, and Marvel officially launch Legend Has It… — a new comic book project focusing on seven of New York’s most influential hip-hop artists: Nas, Big L, Ghostface Killah, Slick Rick, Raekwon, Posdnuos (De La Soul), and Havoc (Mobb Deep). The comic book itself will be created by Brandon Thomas and Sanford Greene, but the Saturday event will include Nas and friends talking not just about this one specific project, but also the wider crossover between hip-hop and comic book culture.

The 90-minute event isn’t just a launch of Legend Has It… — it’s also the launch of Mass Appeal’s Whatnot channel, bringing the legendary hip-hop brand to the massive international online platform. (It’s also, for those looking for NYCC collectibles, the place to get the black and white Whatnot exclusive variant of Legend Has It… #1. This version is limited to just 1,000 copies, while the standard version is 10,000.)

There’s no way this isn’t going to be one of the most exciting — and unique — events of New York Comic Con 2025, and you can be there for yourself. It’s all happening at Whatnot House, Booth #1000 on the show floor of the Javits Center, at 5:30 pm Friday, October 10. Get there early and expect the unexpected… and for those who can’t be there in person, you can still check out the show via Whatnot right here.
