Paris' Moulin Rouge began as a cabaret and has turned into a pop culture icon, a musical, and a movie... and now, it's coming to comics and tabletop gaming.

That kind of iconic allure is exactly what makes for extraordinary storytelling and gameplay," says Rocketship Entertainment CEO/Publisher Tom Akel. "We couldn't be more excited to explore every glittering stage, dazzling costume, and unforgettable performance its world can inspire."

Rocketship plans to do both graphic novels and manga based on Moulin Rouge, as well as tabletop games. In this announcement, though, they are holding back on saying who is doing those projects, instead focusing on the announcement itself.

"Storytelling has always been part of what makes Moulin Rouge so inspiring, Every night on stage, we bring stories and emotions to life for audiences from around the world," says Moulin Rouge's director of development and partnerships, Eloïse Daire. "With Rocketship Entertainment, we're excited to see our universe interpreted in a completely new way through graphic novels, manga and games, and to discover the original stories it will inspire.”

Moulin Rouge joins an eclectic licensed line-up for Rocketship, joining everything from Felix the Cat to Pacific Rim, Angry Birds to The Beginning After the End.
