The new Superman has proven that there is still an appetite for pure heroes doing good because it is the right thing to do, but we do still love a story about a hero with slightly more flexible morals. Richard Rider, the hero known as Nova, is on his own in the Marvel universe. His upcoming series, Nova: Centurion, shows the shades of grey this hero finds himself meddling in.
A spin-off of the Imperial War: Nova – Centurion comic, Nova: Centurion #1 goes on sale in November 2025. As announced during the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing panel at San Diego Comic Con 2025, this story will be written by Jed MacKay with art by Álvaro López and cover art by Alessandro Cappuccio. It continues the story set up during the Imperial storyline, with Richard Rider acting as a lone agent rather than part of the Nova Corps. Nova: Centurion will be an ongoing series.
Turns out, being alone in space can wear on a man, judging by how Marvel describes the new series. “With the Xandarian Worldmind, the sentient repository of an entire extinct people’s culture and history, relying on regular (and expensive) energy infusions, Richard Rider is for hire. A deep-space drifter weighed down with the truth of the terrible lie that the new Galactic Union was built upon, Nova is a corps of one. But how long can he keep his hands clean handling dirty money?”
Nova: Centurion #1 will introduce this morally complicated hero to the Marvel universe when it goes on sale in November 2025.
