You expect stars from comics, movies, TV, anime, literary, and gaming at the massive 5-day event that is New York Comic Con... but what about rap? The crossover you never knew you needed is happening Saturday October 11 at NYCC 2025, and it's the rapper Redman making his comic con (and comic) debut.
Newark's own Redman will join Vault Comics for his first-ever New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 11. The rapper will be there to meet fans and get the word out about his new graphic novel, Muddy Waters Too. Out now, the comic is based on his 2024 album of the same name, which is a thematic sequel to his classic 1996 record Muddy Waters.
“I’m making my first ever appearance at New York Comic Con and I’m bringing my new Muddy Waters Too graphic novel with me,” says Redman in the announcement. "You can find me at the Vault Comics booth on Saturday, and I could not be more excited to have Muddy Waters Too take over NYCC!”
Vault Comics' NYCC 2025 booth will be at #4351. Look for Redman's schedule to be announced by Vault closer to the event.
Muddy Waters Too: The Graphic Novel is inspired by the album and a bit of the humor you know Redman from in the classic movie How High, following Doc - a man who has invited a soil that allows plants to grow at hyper-speed - but only when the right music is played. You can guess what the right music is, and you can guess the kind of plant Doc wants to grow. We'll give you a hint: weed.
Muddy Waters Too: The Graphic Novel is written by Redman and Ben Katzner, with art by Geo Gant, colorist Fred C. Stresing, and lettering by Andworld Design. Vault Comics' secret weapon Tim Daniel designed the whole package.
“It’s an honor to have Redman join us at New York Comic Con,” says Vault CEO Damian Wassel. "We get to bring a Newark legend to New York’s biggest pop culture event. It doesn’t get much cooler than that.”
New York Comic Con 2025 begins Wednesday October 8 for pros, and runs October 9 through 12 for the general public.
