Sabrina the Teenage Witch is crashing Marvel Midnight's big launch... at midnight, naturally

Marvel cleared October 7 for its new horror universe. Sabrina the Teenage Witch invited herself.

On October 7, Marvel has cleared their schedule so that the only new Marvel Comics are the three launch titles of its new 'Marvel Midnight' line, with dark, horror-filled variant versions of its X-Men, Spider-Man, and Fantastic Four. As it turns out, it sounds like just the kind of party for Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

C'mon.... vampires, body horror, Cthulhu-esque nightmares that turn out to be reality? That is a typical Friday night for Sabrina Spellman.

Oni Press and Archie Comics have announced that their upcoming reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch will hit shelves on October 7, the same day as the Marvel Midnight line. And before you chalk it up to just a coincidence, Oni and Archie are changing it so that October 7's Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1 will have a midnight release as part of what it calls its "Midnight release initiative... making the milestone issue available for sale alongside Marvel's Midnight Fantastic Four #1, Midnight Spider-Man #1, and Midnight X-Men #1."

And if that wasn't enough, Oni Press has announced that it's matching Marvel's discount plan for retailers for its Marvel Midnight line.

"Who’d ever want to be ordinary when you could be a teenage witch instead? Still reeling from the surprise revelation of her secret birthright, and with Halloween just around the corner, high schooler Sabrina Spellman is honing her craft one hex at a time and figuring out how to balance her magical new life with the crushing responsibilities of being 16 years old," reads Oni Press' description of Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1. "But when her feline familiar, Salem, drops a mythical trickster onto Sabrina’s literal doorstep, she might not be able to keep her two worlds from smashing together like busted pumpkins on All Hallow’s Eve. No time for fate. No time for destiny. No time for homework. Sabrina’s about to find out that being a teenager is far from magical . . . even when you’re a teenage witch!

This has all the fingerprints of Oni Press' publisher Hunter Gorinson, who, among other things, interned for Marvel Comics' sales department over a decade ago and in the intervening time became known for these more 'outside the box' style marketing techniques while at Valiant Entertainment and later Oni Press.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch #1 by Corinna Bechko and Kano goes on sale Wednesday, October 7.
