Spider-Man has been invited to your Thanksgiving day plans, as he re-joins the Macy's Parade after a decade away
Inspired by the iconic work of John Romita Sr., Spider-Man will swing through the streets of NYC in his first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade since 2014

When Spider-Man got snapped away in Avengers: Infinity War, did you really believe he was gone for good? If so, you probably haven't been following the character's 60+ year history. Spider-Man always comes back, whether that's in the form of comic book character, movie star, or as we learned recently, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade float. Yes, after a ten-year absence from the event, ol' Peter Parker's going to be high-flying through New York City once again - though it's helium, not webs, that'll keep him in the air.
Marvel sent out a press release September 30 announcing the wall-crawler's return to the iconic American spectacle, along with an image of his upcoming float. Check out the balloon, which is taken from the designs of iconic Spider-Man artist John Romita Sr., below:
"Just like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade," says parade producer Jordan Dabby in the press release, "Spider-Man is a true New York City icon, and I can’t wait for live spectators and viewers across the country to erupt in excitement as Spidey soars high above the streets of the Big Apple on Thanksgiving morning."
Of course, this will not be the first time that Marvel's most profitable hero has taken part in the parade. Over the course of its long history, Spider-Man has appeared a whopping twelve times in the event, with his first appearance as a balloon going all the way back to 1987, though he did appear as a costumed parade-walker in 1981. All that said, this will be a momentous occasion for Spidey, as his last appearance was a full decade ago in 2014.
What's still unknown is just who will be joining Spider-Man on his televised trip through Manhattan streets. Last year, anime fans got to see Monkey D. Luffy take his place in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade history, as you may recall Popverse reporting on. Will there be an anime rep this year, or will there be more Marvel characters joining Spidey? As we understand it, one could make a pretty convincing Doctor Doom out of a repurposed Iron Man.
The 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade airs November 28 on NBC, and streams same-day on Peacock.
