The hit sci-fi strategy game Stellaris is returning ... as a comic. The upstart new comics publisher Dren Productions has entered a deal for a series of original graphic novels set in the expansive world, which started in 2016 and continues with a series of DLCs including the recent 'Nomads' expansion.

“We are delighted to partner with Dren Productions to bring Stellaris to life in a new line of original graphic novels," says Melissa Skogman, licensing manager at Paradox Interactive, which owns Stellaris. "There are countless stories within this universe that are waiting to be explored, and the comic medium opens a whole new way for both longtime fans and newcomers to discover them.”

Launching with Stellaris: Earthfall, this is part of a three-year licensing agreement between Paradox and Dren. Dren is folding this into its announced 'premium' imprint, DREN Prestige.

“Stellaris is one of the richest science-fiction sandboxes ever created. The possibilities inside this universe are nearly limitless," says Dredn Productions publisher Michael Dolce. "Through DREN Prestige, we’re building stories that feel cinematic, intelligent, emotional, and epic in scale — stories that both longtime Stellaris fans and newcomers can immerse themselves in.”

Dolce is co-writing the first OGN, Stellaris: Earthfall, with James Mascia. The comic is to be drawn by Ricardo Silva and color artist Anton Polkhovsky.

Details on the Stellaris storyline and release date are to come later this year, according to Dren.
