Superman is still missing from DC Comics in April, but he's got an army of heroes to replace him
Who can save the day when Superman is nowhere to be found? This April's Superman comics promise Superboy Prime, Supergirl, and... Booster Gold...?

Here’s the bad news for Superman fans: we still don’t know where DC’s Man of Steel is after the climax of DC K.O. this March. (This arguably doesn’t bode well for Superman’s fate in the beat-em-up storyline, as if losing a hand wasn’t bad enough.) That doesn’t mean that Clark Kent isn’t going to show up in DC Comics’ Superman titles this April — it’s just that it might not be the Clark Kent fans are used to, is all.
We’ve already shared that Jon Kent is undergoing a big change in April’s Superman Unlimited #12 as part of the Reign of the Superboys storyline that launches this March, but now we can tell you what’s happening in the other Super comics coming out in April, as well.
Supergirl #12, for example, has Sophie Campbell writing and drawing the Maid of Might as she struggles to deal with a threat to Kandor without her powers. DC’s official description of the issue, released April 8, goes like this: "The conflict in Kandor between the Science Council and the younger Kandorians is only growing more tense. Supergirl’s first run-in with the rebel leader Black Flame ends with her broken and without her powers, forcing her to seek recovery with the Science Council. But despite Supergirl’s warning, the Council has their own plan to stop Black Flame: a powerful clone capable of taking down anyone in their path. Enter Team Thunder!" Want to see covers from Campbell, Nick Dragotta, Joshua “Sway” Swaby, and Pablo Villalobos? Sure you do.

On the same day, Action Comics #1097 sees a teenaged Clark Kent run into his own future as some familiar faces show up on an unexpected mission. The official description of the issue explains, “The heroes of tomorrow have arrived in the past, and they need Superboy’s help! But what can a young Clark Kent do that they can’t? Find out as Smallville is turned upside down and the Reign of the Superboys continues!” Which heroes of tomorrow? Series writer Mark Waid and artist Skylar Patridge could tell you, or we could just look at this amazing cover by Ryan Sook to tease us:

But, wait. If Superman is missing, and Supergirl is taking care of Kandor, who’s watching after Metropolis? Courtesy of Joshua Williamson and Dan Mora, the answer can be found in Superman #37, our April 22, and it’s… the Clark Kent of Earth-Prime, AKA Superboy Prime, who’s finding his attempts to live up to Superman’s example aren’t going as well as he’d hoped. DC’s official description of the issue: “Superboy Prime gets a new real-life job with a new secret identity while he protects Metropolis from dangerous threats! But there is a whole DC Comics universe out there for him to explore, and the fanboy in him wants to see it all…Too bad there are heroes who don’t trust him and think he should be locked up!” Welp, that sounds like it could be messy, but let’s look at covers from Mora, Cary Nord, Rachta Lin, and Nick Robles to distract us from the forthcoming chaos:

It’s clear there’s a lot happening in Superman comics this April — even if we’re still very, very curious what’s happened to Superman himself. Where is he, anyway…?
