“It really changed my life in a lot of ways:” Dante Basco delves into Avatar: The Last Airbender from a new perspective
Continuing the Avatar: The Last Airbender legacy with Dante Basco
Back in the early '00s when actor Dante Basco was voicing the heroic character Jake in American Dragon: Jake Long, and the villainous prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender, little did he realize that it was that 'villain' (because let’s be honest Zuko had such a tremendous redemption arc), would be part of a series that influenced an entire generation, and remains to this day, such a highly acclaimed series.
Popverse’s own Veronica Valencia caught up with Dante Basco at Florida Supercon to discuss all things Avatar and his new podcast Avatar: Braving the Elements, his directorial debut with The Fabulous Filipino Brothers, and more!
“It’s been a very unique experience. I’ve never done anything like this in my career. A lot of actors, a lot of us don’t even really watch our older stuff, you know, just kind of on to the next thing, but to go back to something that really changed my life in a lot of ways, and I started over 15 years ago, which is crazy to go back, to look at something, and really go back, not just as the actor that did it, but as a fan like everyone else.”
