Dredd, one of the best comic book movies of all time, is leaving Netflix at the end of February

He might be The Law but that doesn’t mean he gets to stay around forever. Judge Dredd’s run on Netflix is sadly coming to an end soon when Dredd, the 2012 film starring the iconic character, leaves the streaming service. That gives you just a few weeks to watch one of the best comic book adaptations in film history.

That’s a big statement, especially in this day and age when every other movie seems to be based on a comic book character, but Dredd is a fantastic film that captures the essence of the character wonderfully while giving the world a wonderfully artistic flair. The same can’t be said for the awkward Sylvester Stallone-led Judge Dredd from almost two decades earlier, which committed the cardinal sin of showing Judge Dredd without his trademark helmet for much of the movie.

If you want to catch the good Judge Dredd movie on Netflix, you’ll need to move fast: Dredd will leave Netflix on February 29, 2024, a deadline that feels frustratingly close. The film boasts fantastic performances from both Karl Urban, who portrays the surely, unrelenting agent of The Law to great effect despite having half his face obscured throughout the movie, and Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey as the relentless and terrifying Ma-Ma.

Though the film failed to earn back its budget at the box office, its cult status has kept sequel rumors swirling around more than a decade after the movie came out. It is violent and dark and gritty – exactly what you’d want from a 2000 AD film adaptation. If you’ve got a Netflix subscription, we definitely recommend watching Dredd before it leaves the streaming service at the end of February.
