First look at Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa (and a subtle title change)

It is, in case you didn't know, "A Mad Max Saga"

Attendees to Brazilian convention CCXP got to see the first look at upcoming Max Max: Fury Road prequel Furiosa on Thursday evening local time — but even before the trailer made its world premiere at the show, they were already receiving special sneak peaks.

Attendees to the Furiosa panel were given exclusive promotional posters for the movie, featuring golden statues of the character originally played by Charlize Theron — and, in Furiosa, by Anya Taylor-Joy — that also reveal what could be a new subtitle for the movie. As shared by CCXP attendee @GeeknFeminist on Twitter, the poster bears the title Furiosa: Uma Saga Mad Max — or, in English, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

(Shades of the Rogue One subtitle, “A Star Wars Story,” really.)

The subtitle was made official with the release of the movie's trailer, which debuted online at the end of the panel itself. (You can see the trailer right here.)

See the tweet for yourself:

During the panel, Chris Hemsworth told the crowd at the show about Dementus, his new antagonist from the movie: “He’s a complicated individual, the character I play. He’s a very violent, insane, brutal person that is born from the Wasteland — which is the world where the Mad Max saga takes place. He’s a product of his environment. As I said, there’s a brutality, but he has been birthed into a space where it is kill or be killed, and he’s learned to rule with an iron fist. There’s a charisma to him, and it’s a very manipulative charisma, which is something we talked about a lot in this film. In order for people to follow this character, there needed to be something for them to latch onto, so he has the answers as far as, ‘Here is the reason for your problems, here is the individual that you have to blame, follow me and I’ll lead you to that high ground.’ He was a lot of fun to play with.”

Stay tuned for more from CCXP on Popverse throughout the weekend.
