Though 2016's Mad Max: Fury Road mostly starred Furiosa as its protagonist, we're getting a new movie - a prequel to the beloved 2015 post-apocalypse action movie - that is really commiting to getting that character up front-and-center. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is headed to theaters soon, and director George Miller and co-stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth took the stage at CinemaCon 2024 in Las Vegas to promote the film.

George Miller shared that the reason he wanted to tell Furiosa's story was because so much of it had already been written in the preparation for Fury Road. “In order to tell the story in Mad Max Fury road, we had to know everything that happened," Miller said, “When Fury Road had enough traction, we thought ‘Oh we’ve got to go do Furiosa.’”

But who is better to chat about Furiosa than the actor behind Furiosa herself? Anya Taylor-Joy had this to say about the film: “This is the story of one woman’s relentless commitment to impossible hope. We see her go through everything and [learn] that hope is not quashed... I cannot wait for this to be realized on a very big screen because the attention to detail that George has is out of this world." The new movie, she promised, will be "unlike any experience you’ll ever have,”

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will debut May 24, 2024. Buy tickets on Fandango or Atom Tickets.
