The next Dimension 20 season could look a lot like Twilight (with a side of Paul Bunyan) as Dropout's Brennan Lee Mulligan explains his adventure wishlist
Ahead of the debut of Dimension 20 season 26, Cloudward, Ho, Brennan casts his DM eye to the future of where the Dropout actual play series could go next

Seven years after its debut on Dropout, Dimension 20 still has plenty of adventures left. The actual play TTRPG series, usually hosted by GM Brennan Lee Mulligan, is on its way to the steampunk genre next when its 26th season, Cloudward, Ho, premieres on its home streaming service June 4. But what's next once that campaign wraps up? Well, let's ask Brennan himself.
Popverse recently sat down with Brennan for a wide-ranging interview that touched on everything from his comic book inspirations to his history with New York City. And as the discussion progressed, we couldn't help but ask what was knocking about in the comedian's head, 3d10-style, for future campaigns in the series.
"There's something very fun," Brennan began, "In the idea of like, a gallows-humor, doomed season. I also love the Armando Iannucci kind of comedic tone. A comedic political intrigue show would be very, very fun, just because everyone is just all fools and depraved imbeciles, you know?"
For those that don't know, Armando Iannucci is the mind behind biting political satires In the Loop and Veep, as well as the historical dark comedy The Death of Stalin. And while it would be hysterical to see the D20 gang tackle characters with that kind of moral repugnancy, Brennan was hardly finished with his wish list.
"There's also a desire," the GM continues, "for big, genre fiction tropes that I think would be really fun to go back to."
What does he mean?
"I don't think we've done anything like Underworld," Brennan clarifies, "Or a modern-day, kind of Twilight parody mash-up. Modern-day vampires and werewolves kind of thing."
Yes, please. Dimension 20's history has already taken on the Dracula style of vampires in season 14, titled Coffin Run, and we imagine they could handle the sparkly kind with no less success. Finally, Brennan touches on a less modern, but no less explorable piece of popular culture.
"I think there's something really fun," he concludes, "About Tall Tales as well that I like. There are spaces in between deity mythology and fantasy, this realm of mythic, folkloric, Tall Tale that's really cool that I would like to do something with eventually. Things like King Arthur, Robin Hood, or Paul Bunyan."
So what we're hearing is that Dimension 20 season 27 will be a story that tackles modern politicians, is set in a place like the Cullen house, and maybe features a giant lumberjack as a player character? I can't say I know exactly what that will look like, but I can guarantee this:
The trees are screwed.
Dimension 20 is streaming on Dropout now, with Cloudward, Ho dropping June 4. Fans of Brennan Lee Mulligan can keep the adventure going right now by listening to Worlds Beyond Number, available on Spotify, Apple, and wherever else you get your podcasts.
