Gotta Build ‘Em All: LEGO x Pokemon reveal the first-ever collaboration sets

A cursed Pikachu face is countered by a suitably epic Kanto starter set to make this Pokémon x LEGO collaboration one to watch.

If you thought there was anything that LEGO wouldn’t license, you were wrong. Not only have we gotten a LEGO set based on Netflix’s One Piece, but the company has also unveiled its first-ever Pokémon sets, which include possibly the most cursed Pikachu build imaginable as well as an admittedly awesome-looking Pokémon Kanto starter build.

The announcement came Monday, January 12, 2026 and marks the first official LEGO collaboration with Pokémon, which is surprising considering Pokémon has been a global icon for more than 20 years now. The Pokémon Lego sets launch on February 27, 2026 and include some of the most iconic creatures in the history of Pokémon, with a definite emphasis on monsters from the original Pokémon Red and Blue’s Kanto region.

We’ll start with the obvious – the LEGO Pikachu is a bit terrifying. Maybe it is the way that they designed the cheeks to be a bit too chubby, which throws off the proportions of the rest of the face. Maybe it is the way the arms dangle out in front of Pikachu. Either way, it is a cursed image, but we’re not entirely opposed to it. There is something disarming in its terror.

However, the 6838-piece LEGO set that recreates the final evolutions of the original Kanto region starters is a whole different matter. Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise are epic, and we can absolutely see them on the shelf of the rabid Pokémon fan in your life.

Finally, there is the Eevee LEGO build set, which is smaller than the other two but thankfully lacks the cursed energy of the Pikachu build.

All three of the LEGO Pokémon sets are due out on February 27, 2026.
