Mafia: The Old Country release date: When the prequel will arrive from Hanger 13

The fourth game of the series, Mafia: The Old Country will allow players to experience the crime organization's origins

There are certain days that demand your attention, like the day of your daughter's wedding or the release date of Mafia: The Old Country. This is the fourth game in the series and a prequel to the first game, as Mafia: The Old Country returns to Italy to tell a story based on the real-life origins of the Sicilian Mafia. And of course, it goes without saying that fans of organized crime genre stories are no strangers to prequels.

Mafia: The Old Country will be released on August 8 on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The series began more than two decades ago with Mafia, which was released in August 2002. The next game in the series, Mafia II, arrived in August 2010. Mafia III arrived just a little under a decade ago, in October 2016. Next came a remake of the original game from Hanger 13, which was released in 2020. While there are many exciting games scheduled to be released this summer, few have as long a history as the Mafia series. Here's the trailer for Mafia: The Old Country:

In Mafia: The Old Country, players will step into the role of Enzo Favara as he begins his journey into organized crime. Beginning as a indentured laborer in the sulfur mines of Sicily, the game will follow Favara as he becomes a part of the Torrisi crime family. While Mafia III featured more open-ended gameplay, Mafia: The Old Country will be a narrative-driven linear game, comparable to Mafia and Mafia II. Announced on the twentieth anniversary of the first game in the series, Mafia: The Old Country will feature dialogue in the Sicilian language, so as to boost the game's verisimilitude for players.

Mafia: The Old Country will be released on August 8 on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
