A notorious Spider-Man story has been immortalized as a Magic: The Gathering card

The Clone Saga from Marvel's Spider-Man has been redeemed thanks to art from Bill Sienkiewicz for Magic: The Gathering

With Spider-Man fans, I like to play a little game. If you say the words, “The Clone Saga” to a Spider-Man fan above a certain age, who read that story month-to-month back in the 1990s, you can see the light briefly fade from their eyes. Hell, you can probably observe the same effect with me, and I had neither the financial freedom nor a sufficient corporeal form (fine motor skills) to read the Clone Saga between 1994 and the tail end of 1996.

Now, you’ll be able to spring this upon the longtime Spider-Man readers in your life with a card from the Magic: The Gathering x Marvel’s Spider-Man set, aptly called The Clone Saga. Only this time, we’re all treated with artwork from the spectacular comic book artist, Bill Sienkiewicz. Take a look at the card below.

So what’s the story with The Clone Saga? Well, Peter Parker found out he had a clone called Ben Reilly, and the storyline went back and forth over whether or not the Peter we’ve been following all along was the real clone. Mind you, this storyline went on for over two years. Because it was the 1990s, there was a lot of angst and brooding in the rain. It’s a time most Spider-Man fans aren’t keen to return to.

Magic: The Gathering x Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released September 26, 2025
