Sure, some of us may have the power of god and anime on our side these days, but what about the power of god and Todd McFarlane? If you've ever hoped to harness the power of the latter, you're in luck, thanks Magic: The Gathering's Spider-Man set.

At PAX West 2025, Wizards of the Coast revealed a look at cards from the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man set that feature artwork by Todd McFarlane. There is a full art card for Eddie Brock from Marvel's Spider-Man featuring art by Todd McFarlane and Bob Sharen, depicting Eddie glowering directly at the viewer. And, because this set is a gigantic love letter to the history of Spider-Man, there is also a version of Arachnogenesis that uses McFarlane's iconic Spider-Man #1 cover from 1990 as its art. Take a look at both cards below.

There is a certain majesty to Todd McFarlane’s artwork. His signature use of delicate, fine linework to construct the bodies of powerful, larger-than-life figures like Spider-Man, Venom, and Spawn is an arresting contrast to behold. Not surprisingly, McFarlane has gone on to inspire generations of comic book artists since, and he singlehandedly changed the visual language of Spider-Man in 1990. If I were going to battle it out with someone in a Magic: The Gathering game, I absolutely would want a McFarlane card in my deck somewhere.

Magic: The Gathering x Marvel’s Spider-Man will be released on September 26, 2025.
