MTG x Marvel's Spider-Man release date, card list, most expensive card, and more

Wizards of the Coast is partnering up with Marvel for a series of dynamic sets, beginning with Spider-Man. Here's everything you need to know.

Who knew how well Spider-Man would fit in with Magic: The Gathering? Sure, this kind of thing is the stuff of big talk around the MTG table on a Friday night, but in the past year as this official Universes Beyond set has been teased and drip-fed to us, it's really brought to light how nuanced and deep the Spider-Man bench is. Who knew I needed a Spider-Rex card this bad?

With that in mind, though, there's a lot of information about the Magic: The Gathering x Spider-Man set out there. But there is also a lot of confusion. To help identify and clarify what's real and what's something dreamt up online, we've nailed down the core details of the MTG Spider-Man set for you here.

The Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man set will be legal in Standard play, Commander play, Legacy play, and Vintage. There are some skinned cards from Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man that will be legal in other formats where those cards are already legal. The Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man Play Boosters will contain cards that are playable in Magic: The Gathering | Marvel's Spider-Man Draft and Sealed when opened from Play Boosters.

Is Spider-Man MTG getting Commander decks?

Wizards of the Coast decided early on that the MTG x Spider-Man set would not have any Commander decks and would be Standard-only cards. It became such an issue that Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks spoke about it during a company stock conference in early 2024.

What is the most expensive card in the MTG Spider-Man set?

As of August 29, 2025, the most expensive card in the MTG Spider-Man set is a variant edition of the Soul Stone featuring a glimpse of the Inbetweener. CardKingdom lists it as a $24.99 card, but look for that price to fluctuate wildly leading up to and through release.

Will there be more MTG Marvel sets after Spider-Man?

It has been confirmed that Wizards of the Coast has several sets planned with Marvel following Spider-Man's September 2025 release. While they haven't revealed what those are, it is fair to hope for something from the X-Men, The Avengers, and more.
