Video game developers NetEase are very much onto a winner with Marvel Rivals. The game has become the de facto successor to Overwatch – which is even more remarkable because Overwatch has an official sequel that no one cared about. Now, NetEase is hoping to capture the same excitement for their new mobile game, Marvel Mystic Mayhem, which finally has a release date.
While Marvel Rivals is focused on the multiplayer experience of the team shooter genre, Marvel Mystic Mayhem is a single-player tactical RPG where fans assemble a team of heroes to battle the forces of the Dream Dimension. The focus here is on grinding to level up your team so you can take on more powerful bosses, repeating until you’ve completed all the available levels. Following a closed beta earlier this year, Marvel Mystic Mayhem will finally get its full release on June 25, 2025.
With a full multiverse of characters to play with, we can expect plenty of familiar faces to join the fight against Nightmare in Marvel Mystic Mayhem. Spider-Man, Hulk, and Moon Knight are joined by Sentry, Emma Frost, and Scarlet Witch in the trailer, though we expect more characters will be released over time. Fans who want to get started grinding for their next hero can pre-register for the game in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. To celebrate, Marvel is even releasing a handful of variant covers featuring characters from the game.
Marvel's publishing arm is throwing its weight behind the game, with seven variant covers for regular comic books spotlighting the game's characters throughout June to hype up the launch. Marvel Mystic Mayhem covers will appear on Doctor Strange #450, Incredible Hulk #29, Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #12, One World Under Doom #7, The Vision & The Scarlet Witch #5, Amazing Spider-Man #12, and X-Men #22, as per the publisher. You can see those covers in the gallery below.
