Look, I'm a sucker for games-in-games. Sit me down at one of those poker tables in Red Dead Redemption and I will be there until I forget that I'm supposed to be a cowboy. So imagine my surprise when I found out about the Tabletop Game Shop Sim, coming to Steam soon from the folks at Knight Fever Games. In case the name didn't convey everything you need to know already, this is a shop simulator game that put you in charge of, well, selling wargaming miniature games.
Don't anyone tell Mark Zuckerberg - this feels like something that'll make 'meta' work.
We found out about Tabletop Game Shop Sim from the good folks at TechTimes, who reported on the upcoming release May 19. Also included with their announcement were some of the features of the sim, and we've got to say, they're exactly what you'd want from this kind of experience. Along with designing and operating your own wargame mini shop, the game allows you, the player, to:
- Assemble and paint your own minis
- Connect with other shop owners
- Host game nights in the shop
- Compete in an in-game with your customers
I've never worked in a wargame mini shop myself, but I have to imagine folks who have are familiar with everything going on above. In fact, that's exactly the intent of Knight Fever Games co-founder Adrien Britta, who told TechTimes:
"As an avid Miniature Wargame enthusiast, I've always wanted to create a game that captures that feeling [...] I can't wait to see everyone open their own tabletop shops, create memories with customers, and craft a successful business from such a beloved hobby."
Sounds like that's exactly what fans are going to get, Adrien. Now, will Henry Cavill be playable in the game, or are you thinking he'll be more of an NPC?
Tabletop Game Shop Sim is expected to appear on Steam sometime this year. While you wait, check out the trailer below.
