There aren't any games that look quite like The Midnight Walk, which is enough to get us excited to pick it up.

As consoles and PCs got more powerful, they were able to render more realistic characters and graphics. However, sometimes that isn’t what we want. Sometimes we want something that is unique and stylized, something that looks like nothing else out there. The Midnight Walk looks more like a stop-motion movie than a horror game, but that only works in its favor. We honestly can’t wait for The Midnight Walk’s release date to arrive so we can dive into this cozy horror game.

Developers MoonHood Studios went to great lengths to recreate the feel of classic movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Over the Garden Wall as well as the surrealism of David Lynch’s finest work. They hand-sculpted the models before scanning them and turning them into the various characters you’ll meet through the game. When The Midnight Walk finally comes out on May 8, 2025, we’ll get to see the fruits of all that labor.

The main character of The Midnight Walk is referred to as the Burnt One, who is accompanied by Potboy as they travel down the titular highway. Potboy not only serves as a narrative device to explain to the players what is going on, but he also uses the flame in his head as a way to solve the various puzzles that get in the pair’s way. Together, they have to navigate the dark and twisted world that they find themselves in.

The Midnight Walk is out on May 8, 2025. It will be available on the PlayStation 5 and PC.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
