Popverse's top stories of the day

Let’s be honest – you’re not watching kaiju films for the humans. You’re watching them so you can see two or more giant monsters beat the titanic stuffing out of each other – the people are just there to narrate what is happening. Who is going to have that perilous task this time? Here is who we know is in the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire cast and who they are playing.

While the real stars of the MonsterVerse franchise are the monsters, there are always a handful of people running around and getting in the way. Because we’re getting pretty close to the release date for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, we have a pretty good idea of who will be in it. Barring any surprise cameos in the movie, like Kurt Russel reprising his role from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, this should be the core cast of the film.

  • Rebecca Hall as Dr. Ilean Andrews
  • Brian Tyree Henry as Bernie Hayes
  • Dan Stevens as Trapper
  • Kaylee Hottle as Jia
  • Alex Ferns as Mikael
  • Fala Chen as Iwi Queen
  • Rachel House as Hampton
  • Ron Smyck as Harris
  • Chantelle Jamieson as Jayne
  • Greg Hatton as Lewis

The trailers for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire give plenty of hints at the new threat to the planet that will unite the two film icons once more. The last time we saw them on screen in Godzilla vs. Kong, they battled Mechagodzilla, which was a man-made threat, but this time it looks like the danger comes from deep within the planet. We won’t find out until Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire rampages its way into cinemas.

Whichever giant monster is your favorite, Popverse has you covered. We have a guide to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's ending (and what it means for the broader MonsterVerse), as well as watch orders for both Legendary's MonsterVerse and Godzilla's overall movies, as well as why Godzilla Minus One left theaters early (and why New Empire could be to blame!), and if you're a Popverse premium member, a New York Comic Con-exclusive interview with the cast and crew of Legendary's kaiju-hunting drama Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
