It wasn’t a one-off.

Fresh from his cameo at the end of this weekend’s Black Adam, Henry Cavill has shared a video on Instagram to confirm that he will indeed be returning as Superman in future DC movies.

“I wanted to make it official,” he said. “I am back as Superman.”

He added that there’s “a lot to be thankful for” that he would get to in time about his return to the role, but primarily he said, he wanted to thank fans for “your support, and your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

It’s unknown as yet where Cavill will appear next as the Man of Tomorrow, although a second solo Superman movie (following 2013’s Man of Steel) has been rumored for some time now. The next movie set in the shared DC movie universe is set to be Shazam!: Fury of the Gods in March next year, followed by The Flash in June, Blue Beetle in August, and the second Aquaman movie, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, on December 25, 2023. Cavill could, in theory, pop up in any one of them — or he might be saving himself for a more high-profile appearance in an as-yet-unannounced project.
