The renowned artist/writer Jock is stepping up and stepping out with his first creator-owned comic all his own.

This October, Jock will launch Gone - a new sci-fi series the Batman: One Dark Knight creator will write, draw, and color himself, 48 luscious pages at a time. Gone will be the first proper series from DSTLRY, the new upstart publisher launched by former ComiXology executives David Steinberger and Chip Mosher. This news was previously reported at AIPTComics.

DSTLRY describes Gone as "an action-packed sci-fi adventure" following a 13-year old young woman named Abi, who lives on remote world amidst a dismally-treated workerforce whose job it is to resupply starships. In attempt to change her life and get off that rock, Abi and her friends sneak aboard a spacious luxury space-liner in hopes of a better life. No, this isn't space Titanic - what Abi will have to worry about isn't the ship (as far as we know), but about the company she chooses to keep.

"Gone is a labor of love with which I have the rare opportunity to fine-tune every aspect of the story as both writer and artist," Jock says about the project. "I’m grateful to DSTLRY for their unwavering support and for providing a platform where creators can push the boundaries of their craft. I can’t wait to share this journey and the world of GONE with everyone this fall."

Jock's Gone spins out of his 8-page story 'The stowaway' from DSTLRY's flagship anthonlogy The Devil's Cut, which we are seeing early copies of here at San Diego Comic Con ahead of its formal August 30 release.

Gone #1 will feature numerous covers by Jock (as well as possibly others), including the ones you can see here in this gallery:

As part of of the promotion for this, Jock is also doing a design takeover of Diamond Comic Distributors' Previews catalog.

Gone #1 goes on sale this October, with a planned monthly release. The number of issues this series will run for has not been determined.
