Watch the Beaches, A New Musical - From Page to Stage panel with Iris Rainer Dart and Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso from Bookcon 2026!
Four decades after the novel Beaches hit shelves, author Dart was at BookCon to talk about its Broadway adaptation, alongside producer Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso. The Popverse gang was there too, and we brought our cameras along

Popverse's top stories
- Diabolical: The Boys pilot director Dan Trachtenberg was sneakily plotting Predator SFX on set
- Get a first look at Ravenloft: The Horrors Within in the only official D&D actual play series, Dungeon Masters
- Just two movies in, Super Mario is one of the 10 biggest animation franchises ever
Before it was a well-reviewed Broadway musical, the 1985 novel Beaches was the result of Iris Rainer Dart's talented pen. And just recently, the woman who started it all appeared at BookCon 2026 along with one of the key creatives behind the stage adaptation of her work, the Beaches' musical producer Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso.
Popverse was there to mark the occasion not just as fans, but as a camera crew, and if you couldn't make it to Dart and Maloney-Prezioso's panel, we've got the whole thing filmed for you right here.
This is one of the many Bookcon 2026 panels Popverse filmed at New York City's Javits on the Hudson. Consult our Bookcon 2026 panel hub for a list of all of the panels we have available, and what's left to be released.
