Krysten Ritter's next novel will be a "psychological thriller" that plays more with characters who are "bad" people
Krysten Ritter will stay in the vein of her Jessica Jones character with the next novel she's writing

Krysten Ritter loves a good psychological thriller, just like the rest of us. The Jessica Jones actress specifically mentioned the work of Freida McFadden and the plot twists of Lisa Jewell's None of This is True when she appeared at Los Angeles Times's Festival of Books last month. While she was there to speak about her new book she co-wrote with Lindsay Jamieson, The Retreat, Ritter also dropped some details about her next book.
"It'll be another mystery, psychological thriller - but very different [from The Retreat]. But I've been playing with my levels of [morally] bad, so maybe that's, like, a little spoiler I can give... We shall see," Ritter said.
The Retreat tells the story of a female con artist who weasels her way into the life of a rich American socialite in Mexico. Ritter loves complicated female characters - a reflection of the types of roles she's taken onscreen - and writing novels provides her with different avenue for exploring what goes on in another person's mind.
While the title for Ritter's next novel hasn't been announced yet, stay in the loop with us here at Popverse. When we know, you'll know.
The Retreat is available now, wherever books are sold.
