When you go on shows like The Traitors, it is usually pretty clear that you’re unlikely to win. The odds are simply not in your favor. So why should you bother? Well, for Harriet, who recently appeared on The Traitors UK, might not have walked away with the money at the end, but the sales of her crime fiction books have nearly doubled in the month since her first appearance on the show.
NielsenIQ BookData, which tracks book sales data, reported that weekly sales of Harriet Tyce’s books are up around 95.6% week on week in the week that followed her debut on the fourth season of The Traitors UK. The first episode of the season, which concluded last week, aired on January 1, 2026.
What is remarkable is that Tyce didn’t have a new release to drive these book sales alongside her appearance on The Traitors UK. Her most recent novel, A Lesson in Cruelty, was published in April 2024. The Lies I Told also saw a similar increase in sales of around 93% in the same period. However, her next book, Witch Trial, is scheduled to hit shelves on February 26, 2026, making it prime to capitalize on her recent appearance on one of the most popular shows in the UK.
We’re not saying that Harriet only appeared on The Traitors UK to boost her book sales, since what crime writer could resist the chance to track down a murder in their midst? However, the appearance has been an unexpected boon to her career, even if she didn’t end up walking away with the cash at the end.
