The Witcher fandom has never felt bigger, thanks to the proliferation of Netflix's World of The Witcher TV shows and animated movies. And while Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher books and CD Projekt Red's Witcher games have been immensely popular within the nerd and gaming communities for quite some time now, the lore of The Witcher has reached an entirely new audience because of Netflix.
But how much does the TV show have in common with the books? Our video producer Ashley Victoria Robinson is here to break it all down for you in this week's edition of Lore Corner.
Which Witcher books has the Netflix show adapted?

So, none of them, really! Sure, there are pieces of The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny in the first season of the Netflix show, but the show took out so many elements from those books that The Witcher TV show stands on its own.
What are the commonalities between The Witcher show and The Witcher books?

The names of the characters, mostly! That said, season 1 of The Witcher featured a scene involving The Law of Surprise, which comes from the books, The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny. However, the way that The Law of Surprise was presented in the TV show left much to be desired, as it was missing the full context from the books.
That said, Netflix has said that seasons 4 and 5 of The Witcher TV show will adapt the books Baptism of Fire, The Tower of Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. It remains to be seen how successful of an adaptation the upcoming seasons of the show will be.
How do The Witcher video games relate to The Witcher books?

The Witcher video games from CD Projekt Red can best be seen as a continuation or sequel to The Witcher books. The games don't relate to The Witcher Netflix show at all. So truly, the thing to keep in mind here is that The Witcher TV show is its own entity, taking the core characters of The Witcher books and telling a completely different story with them.
