Is Dragon Ball Daima's Glorio a hero or villain? Akio Iyoku isn't telling just yet

We’re only one episode into Dragon Ball Daima and it is already raising a lot of questions. Taking place in between Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super puts it in a very strange place in the already somewhat confusing franchise timeline, but the biggest announcement from the Dragon Ball Daima panel at New York Comic Con was definitely the casting of Aaron Dismuke as Glorio – but who is this new character and is he friend or foe? That was something no one was letting slip just yet.
It was a question pressed to the Executive Producer of the Dragon Ball franchise, Akio Iyoku, at New York Comic Con, but he quite deftly deflected the subject in order to protect the audience from spoilers. “I can’t go into too much detail just yet, but I can say that he is a mysterious character.”
We only see a glimpse of Glorio in the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima, so we don’t know exactly how he is going to fit into Goku’s journey through the Demon Realm. However, we get the sense that he is going to be another example of Goku turning a somewhat ally into a stalwart friend throughout the show. Aside from powerups, screaming, and spikey hair, it is what Dragon Ball is best known for.
Dragon Ball Daima is currently airing on Crunchyroll as part of the Fall 2023 anime season. Don’t have a Crunchyroll subscription? Each episode is coming to Netflix a week later if you’re willing to wait that long.
