Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, more to debut new projects on September 8 - Disney+ Day
Beginning with Tom Hanks' PinnochioThe Walt Disney Company has announced the second annual Disney+ Day, a day of big debuts on the streaming platform - this time, as the lead-in to the D23 Expo.
The 2022 Disney+ Day will take place on Thusday September 8, and will include the debuts of new projects from Disney, Marvel Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm (and Star Wars specifically), and National Geographic.
The first project announced as part of the 2022 Disney+ Day is the highly-anticipated live-action/CGI hybrid film Pinocchio by the award-winning director/actor duo of Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, The Polar Express, and Castaway). Hanks will play the tinkerer Geppetto, and will be joined by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Pinocchio), Cynthia Erivo (Blue Fairy), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Jiminy Cricket), Keegan-Michael Key ('Honest' John), and more.

So what else could be joining the September 8 Disney+ Day line-up? We have a few guesses.
On the Marvel front, the low-hanging fruit would be the Disney+ debut of Thor: Love and Thunder. Another possible option would be the debut of the second season of the animated What If?. A very outside choice would be the debut of Secret Invasion, although since it just finished filming that'd be a very tight turnaround.
For Star Wars, the obvious candidate - Andor - was just announced as debut one week before Disney+ Day, on August 31. Given that, I would guess there would be some reticence in running two live-action Star Wars series simultaneously. Assuming that, options include the second season of Star Wars: Bad Batch, or the debut of Tales of the Jedi.
As mentioned, September 8's Disney+ Day is just before D23 Expo - Disney's official convention which takes place in Anaheim, California (the same location as this year's Star Wars Celebration). Popverse will be covering both Disney+ Day and D23 Expo, so stay tuned for more details.
