Marvel Studios moves The Marvels back four months - but teases us with a first poster

Higher, Further, Faster... and arriving four months later than expected

As if the release of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania wasn’t enough excitement for MCU fans, Marvel Studios has released the first teaser poster for The Marvels — along with the news that the movie will be coming out four months later than previously expected.

With the new poster putting Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel at the center of things — literally — alongside Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Harris) and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), the image teases the first on-screen meeting between three different generations of MCU heroes with the tagline “Higher. Further. Faster. Together.” (An evolution to the tagline on the teaser poster for 2019’s Captain Marvel, “Higher, Further, Faster.”)

The poster also reveals the new release date for the movie of November 10, four months later than the late June date previously scheduled. The new date means that it’s released a week after Dune Part Two, and a week before The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It also means that there will be no MCU movie in theaters between the May 5 release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the holiday period. The official premise of the movie, courtesy of Marvel Studios, is as follows: “Following the events of Ms. Marvel (2022), Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan, and Monica Rambeau begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers and must team-up to figure out why.”

The Marvels is directed by Nia Costa, director of 2021’s Candyman reboot, from a script by Costa, Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik, and Zeb Wells. In addition to Larson, Harris, and Vellani, the movie features Samuel L. Jackson in his first appearance in the MCU after the upcoming Secret Invasion miniseries on Disney+.

Both Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel are available now on Disney+.
