Longtime ReedPop executive Mike Armstrong is exiting after 15 years with the company. Armstrong, a VP within ReedPop, is best known for his time as event director of all of ReedPop's major comic shows at one point or another, including (but not limited to) New York Comic Con, C2E2, and Emerald City Comic Con.

"It's bittersweet for me to announce that after almost 15 years, I'll be leaving ReedPop to pursue a new role that I'm very excited about," Armstrong writes on Facebook. "The people I got to work with were 100%, without a doubt, the absolute best part of my job. The thing I'll miss the most is the Sunday 6:30PM post-show hugs, high-fives, and beers that signaled the end of another successful show. There's no better feeling."

Armstrong's departure from ReedPop comes just a few weeks after ReedPop's long-time President Lance Fensterman also announced that he was leaving the company for an outside opportunity.

Armstrong joined ReedPop (and its parent company RX) in 2008 in the role of an exhibitor marketing consultant, just as the company was taking steps to take over event management of Lucasfilm's Star Wars Celebration convention. Coming from a background in sports team management, Armstrong initially joined ReedPop's burdgeoning sales team and rose through the ranks to become an event director of its US comic shows. In 2018, he was promoted to a company Vice President role, and was later put in charge of 'New Initiatives,' which included partnered shows such as Star Wars Celebration, Star Trek Missions, and Magic Con, as well as new initiatives such as Popverse.

Speaking personally here as Popverse's Editor-in-Chief, Armstrong will be very missed within Popverse (and ReedPop) as a whole. Writing with 100% transparency, Mike Armstrong is/was the person I reported to when I was hired in February 2022 to create the news outlet you're reading now. Although he joined as a salesperson and grew to be an events leader, at his heart, he is a fan of journalism - and a fan of people being fans.
