Marvel Studios Nightcrawler Alan Cumming doesn't seem to know what Avengers: Secret Wars is - but he does seem to think Halle Berry will be in Doomsday?

The MCU's newest Spoiler-in-Chief is pretty sure that we'll see Halle Berry's Storm return for Avengers: Doomsday. And after that? Alan Cumming really doesn't know. Maybe because he's the MCU's Spoiler-in-Chief

I doubt actor Alan Cumming has ever had more use for his character Nightcrawler's powers than right now. See, The Traitors host has become something of a person of interest for spoiler-hungry fans (as you'll recall Popverse reporting on), and it would probably behoove him to be able to BAMF out of awkward situations. Like when he can't remember which movie comes after Avengers: Doomsday in the MCU saga, for example.

That very thing happened to Cumming recently during a chat with Entertainment Tonight posted to their YouTube page September 14. During the discussion, Cumming was asked by his interviewer whether he had filmed Avengers: Secret Wars alongside Doomsday, as the former is sequel to the latter.

"What is that?" asked Cumming, looking (from this humble reporter's POV) genuinely confused, "The second one? No, I wasn't shooting that bit. No, it's all just the first one and then the second one."

Kind of an embarrassing mistake to make as an actual MCU cast member, no? Or is there something else going on here? Listen further and you might start to wonder if Cumming isn't being intentionally obtuse, especially once you hear what comes next. Shortly after getting that answer, Cumming's interviewer asked about something strange they noticed in the Doomsday cast list - namely, that Halle Berry AKA Storm didn't appear on it.

"Well," Cumming responded, quite cheekily, to the question, "Maybe she does."

I know, I know, exciting stuff. But take this with a multiverse-sized grain of salt, True Believers. The actor went to say that he "got into trouble for talking about it early on," and that in his interviews, he may be purposefully playing coy.

"I've been trying to muddy the waters ever since," he concluded.

A likely story, Alan. A likely story.

Avengers: Doomsday comes to theaters December 18, 2026.

Consider this a meta post-credits scene for Marvel fans - the four key articles you need to read next to continue the thrills:

Grant DeArmitt

Grant DeArmitt: Grant DeArmitt (he/him) likes horror, comics, and the unholy union of the two. In the past, and despite their better judgment, he has written for Nightmare on Film Street and Newsarama. He lives in Brooklyn with his partner, Kingsley, and corgi, Legs.
