A brand new, thrilling cast list has been announced for Critical Role’s Mighty Nein animated series at San Diego Comic Con 2025. Fans were thrilled to learn that folks like Jonathan Frakes and Ming-Na Wen are joining the world of Exandria, but perhaps the most exciting name for the Critical Role cast themselves is none other than Traitors host Alan Cumming. And now that they’ve worked with the Traitors host once, they’d love to do it again - preferably on The Traitors itself.
Let’s back up - The Traitors, in case you don’t know, is a reality series based on deception. And as folks who have been a part of plenty of fantasy politics intrigue stories, it makes sense the Critical Role cast - that is, Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Liam O'Brien, Ashley Johnson, Taliesin Jaffe, Marisha Ray, and Laura Bailey - would be fans. Perhaps the biggest, though, was O’Brien, who plays Caleb Widogast in The Mighty Nein.
“If someone had time traveled back to me when I was 20,” said O’Brien, “And told me that I would one day make an animated series with Alan Cumming, I would have died from a heart attack right there and created a time paradox. So I'm glad the technology doesn't exist yet.”
It was at this point that Sam Riegel, who plays goblin Nott, suggested that O’Brien and the gang continue their collaboration with Cumming.
“Maybe we could be on his reality show!” Riegel said, and judging by the thundering applause that followed, there would bar least be a couple hundred people who would be thrilled to watch.
The Traitors is streaming on Peacock now. The Mighty Nein debuts on Prime Video November 19.
