Critical Role spinoff series Mighty Nein cast adds X-Men's Alan Cumming, Star Trek's Jonathan Frakes, The Mandalorian's Ming-Na Wen, and more

Also joining Prime Video for Critical Role's next adventure through Exandria are Mark Strong, Rahul Kohli, and Auli’i Cravalho

It won't surprise you to learn that San Diego Comic Con 2025 has been an absolute bonanza for fans of Critical Role. We're already told you about the Mighty Nein and Vox Machina release dates, and now we get to chat about something even (potentially) cooler - the Mighty Nein cast list, on which you'll find names from across the fandom spectrum.

Oh, but we're not talking about the regular Critical Role cast - that is, Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Liam O'Brien, Ashley Johnson, Taliesin Jaffe, and Marisha Ray, all of whom were at the SDCC '25 Critical Role panel - we're talking about the folks who are joining them for the animated Mighty Nein, which adapts the CR campaign of the same name for Amazon's Prime Video.

On that cast list are folks like Alan Cumming, who famously played Nightcrawler in X2 and will return to the role for Avengers: Doomsday, Jonathan Frakes, who's crossed over most of the modern Star Trek shows as William T. Riker, and Ming-Na Wen, who Star Wars fans know from The Mandalorian and Bad Batch, but who real ones know as freaking Mulan.

In no particular order (well, alphabetical), here are the rest of the Mighty Nein cast revealed at SDCC '25:

  • Auli’i Cravalho
  • Alan Cumming
  • Robbie Daymond
  • Jonathan Frakes
  • Rahul Kohli
  • Tim McGraw
  • Anika Noni Rose
  • Mark Strong
  • Ming-Na Wen

Exciting as all of these names are, the Critical Role cast was emphatic that even more big names would be coming to the series. Those names, apparently aren't quite ready to be revealed just yet... although the gang promised that more would be known the closer we get to the series debut.

And speaking of, The Mighty Nein debuts on Prime Video November 19.
