As packed as the Avengers: Doomsday cast is, surely there is room for Captain America to shine, right?

The entire fate of the MCU hangs in the balance as Marvel Studios has assembled the biggest list of heroes and villains we’ve ever seen for Avengers: Doomsday, and fans are understandably eager to get any kind of update from the set. As Anthony Mackie celebrated his recent Emmy nomination for his guest spot on The Studio, the former Falcon and current Captain America also shared a tiny update about the production of Marvel's next big crossover film.
Anthony Mackie was inevitably asked about Avengers: Doomsday when he showed up on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Given how tight those NDAs around this movie are, it isn’t surprising that his update was relatively small. “It is in production. We are producing,” he said, being as vague as he was legally obligated to be. “We are in the midst of shooting, yes.”
Mackie was also asked about the size of his role in Avengers: Doomsday. Considering the size of the cast, it stands to reason that everyone is going to be fighting for screentime in the film. However, Mackie assured everyone that Captain America would get his time to shine. While he didn’t drop any specific spoilers, he did remind people how Captain America: Brave New World ended. “Well, at the end of my movie, our tag was me saying, you know, when ya’ll come, we gonna be here and we gonna be ready for you. So ‘we,’ including ‘me.’”
Captain America has always been a team player, but it is good to know that he’ll get his time in the spotlight when Doctor Doom drops into his universe.
Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production and is out in cinemas on December 18, 2026.
