TMNT’s Secret of the Ooze movie re-release in theaters doubles as a comic shop boost, thanks to IDW & Sweet
The re-release of the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in theaters this year will come with directions on how to find your local comic shop

The world is a difficult place right now, but one good thing that's happened is that more and more comic book movies are directing fans to check out the source material at their local comic shop. DC Studios has been great at that, for instance. And now, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting in on the fun with the theatrical re-release of the classic sequel film, The Secret of the Ooze.
As reported by Variety, Warner Bros., Fathom Entertainment, and Saga Arts are teaming up for a weeklong re-release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze to commemorate the film's 35th anniversary this March 13 through 19.
Beyond just showing the beloved Turtles movie in a new 4K restoration, the release will also include a never-before-seen featurette with Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman taking viewers through "the evolution, mythology and legacy of the Ninja Turtles from his own drawing desk." Given how we're big fans of Eastman's Turtles art here at Popverse, we're particularly excited about this.
We've also heard from IDW, the current publisher of TMNT comics, that the film's release will include a URL code that directs viewers to the Sweet site findyourcomic.store where they can find, you guessed it, their closest comic book shop. IDW has reprinted the Turtles' earliest comics, in addition to their latest adventures in their ongoing series, so there has never been a stronger sense of media synergy for TMNT than right now.
Everyone's favorite Heroes in a Half-Shell turn 40 years old in 2024, and the Turtles are arguably bigger than ever, thanks to the hit Last Ronin comic book series, and a hit movie in 2023's Mutant Mayhem. If you want more, we're here with a watch guide, the chance to see co-creator Kevin Eastman tell all, information about their summer 2024 comic book relaunch, and... well, more! Cowabunga, dudes.
