Vincent D’Onofrio is a name that should be familiar to superhero fans. The critically acclaimed actor is known for his role as Wilson Fisk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, D’Onofrio also has ambitions in another comic book universe.
Speaking to a crowd at Dragon Con, D’Onofrio spoke about his love for comic books and a certain character that would be a dream role. “I don’t know if you guys are into DC like I am. Obviously, I’m into Marvel too, because that’s my job, but my comic books when I was a kid were Captain America, Spider-Man, Swamp Thing, and Batman. So…Swamp Thing. I would really like to play Swamp Thing.”
“I would fucking kill it,” D’Onofrio added. “Let’s write it right now. I think it could be part practical and part CGI. If James Gunn is listening.”
In 2023 it was announced that Swamp Thing would be part of the first slate of films from James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios. As of now, there is no release date and no director has been announced. However, once production does get underway, hopefully, DC Studios will take a look at D’Onofrio. After seeing what he could do as Kingpin, it’s a no-brainer that he would absolutely nail Swamp Thing.
