How The Expendables 3 helped Glen Powell prepare for his role in The Running Man remake

Glen Powell says Edgar Wright’s The Running Man “delivers on every level,” and he can’t wait for us to see it

For years, Glen Powell has been a supporting player in action movies, but Edgar Wright’s The Running Man is his chance to show what he could do as a leading man.

“This is so damn cool,” Powell says during a Running Man spotlight panel at New York Comic Con 2025. “This movie means so much to me. I got the share technically with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Expendables 3 way back in the day. I’m like 16th on the call sheet. There’s no reason I needed to be in that movie. It’s all the most iconic action stars of all time, and somehow, I slipped in.”

“What was really cool was for me to watch guys like Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Harrison Ford, Snipes, Banderas, you know, all those guys, who have led their own franchises in their own movies. To watch how they do it. That was pretty cool for me to kind of be looking up at some of my heroes and now getting to kind of occupy this space in an iconic title with an iconic director and an incredible cast."

"This movie just delivers on every level. The kind of characters I’ve always responded to are just ordinary people against extraordinary odds. That’s just really the DNA of The Running Man.”

The Running Man hits theaters on November 14, 2025.
