Listen, Disney is all about sequels and remakes these days, but there's something tantalizing about Freakier Friday. The world is a much different place than it was in 2003, when the original Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan came out. For one, Curtis has won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. And based on the footage that Disney has released of Freakier Friday, it looks like Curtis is bringing all of her comedy talents to the table.
Freakier Friday will be released on August 8, 2025. Instead of going to Disney+, Freakier Friday will be released in theaters, mercifully avoiding a cutthroat July release date. And don't worry, the sequel film features at least one scene where Lindsay Lohan rocks out on stage with her band, just like in the first movie. The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra, best known for directing episodes of Deli Boys, the Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson comedy Late Night, and episodes of Transparent. Take a look at the trailer below.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan aren't the only members of the original Freaky Friday cast returning for the sequel. Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Rosalind Chao, and Lucille Soong are all reprising their roles from the first film. Additionally, Manny Jacinto will be playing the husband of Lindsay Lohan's character, so everyone wins.
Freakier Friday will be released in theaters on August 8, 2025.
