All hail the king of monsters! Now that Legendary Pictures’ Monsterverse is out of cinemas for a while, TOHO and GKIDS get to bring the sequel to (arguably) the best Godzilla movie of modern times to cinemas. A Japanese release date has been set for Godzilla Minus Zero, but we’re getting the US release just three days later.

TOHO, which has been the home of Godzilla for more than 70 years, and GKIDS confirmed the Godzilla Minus Zero release date as November 3, 2026 in Japan, with a wide theatrical release planned for the US on November 6, 2026. Not only that, but we’ve got a brand new poster to celebrate the release date announcement. It is simple. It is striking. It tells us nothing about the movie, and that is exactly what we love about it.

November 3 is a special day for Godzilla fans. It is the anniversary of the original Godzilla film’s release back in 1954 and is commonly known as Godzilla Day among fans. The legacy of Godzilla in Japanese culture is hard to overstate. There is, after all, a giant inflatable version of the kaiju looming over the Shinjuku district in Tokyo, and he remains one of the country’s most recognizable cultural exports. Perhaps that is why the US release of Godzilla Minus Zero is so close to the Japanese release date. Normally, American fans have to wait weeks or even months to see Japanese films like Demon Slayer Infinity Castle in cinemas, but it is never a good idea to keep the King of Monsters waiting.

Godzilla Minus Zero will arrive in American cinemas on November 6, 2026, just three days after the film hits Japanese theaters.
